Topic: Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF
In 1950, a small group of kids in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, decided all on their own to carry empty milk cartons as they went door to door on Halloween and use them to collect coins for UNICEF.

It was a simple idea that kids could understand. The coins they collected went toward helping kids half a world away.

Over the years, Trick-or-Treat for Unicef has contributed more than 144 million dollars to provide medicines, better nutrition, clean water, education and emergency relief to children.

But unfortunately, about 25.000 children still die each day. No child anywhere should die from a preventable cause!

So this Halloween, hordes of children will come together once again carrying Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF collection boxes.

Its an imitable initiative which children have taught to perform in every school. There are events when children (students)actively perform in fund raising and contribute for the cause. There is another initiative of UNICEF called: Child-to-Child-Children changing their lives Under which students democratically participate in the policy making and influence the decisions, children helping and those affected coming with solutions of their own are some intelligent solutions for the prevalent problems. And I thought that on Halloween the kids in america just went from house to house asking for candy. This is a great initiative to help unicef.

Yes Kristina, though kids do go from door to door trick-or-treating for candy, they also carry the UNICEF boxes. When I was a kid, we would form groups in school and go around with the boxes during the day. And at nightfall, we would go trick-or-treating for candy :)

This is a great cause and opportunity for kids to learn the meaning of helping other children across the world, and not only thinking about candy for themselves during this day^^

Halloween is clearly an environmentalist festival: the symbol is a vegetable!
